# Create and edit a workspace

Workspaces represent places or organizational units where assets are used or stored, such as construction sites, warehouses, repair areas and offices.

## Create a workspace

Open **Workspaces** and click **Add**. Enter a clear name and select a workspace type.

### Automatic equipment status

A workspace can define a status that is **automatically applied when equipment enters the workspace**. A warehouse might apply **In storage**, while a repair area might apply **In repair**. Leave the field empty when no automatic status is needed.

## Responsible employees

A workspace can have **one or more responsible employees**. These are not simply people who work there; they are employees authorized to act on behalf of the workspace and confirm related operations.

All assigned responsible employees have equal standing. Inventory+ records which specific employee confirmed each operation even though the assets remain assigned to the workspace.

## Save and edit

Click **Save** to create the workspace. Its name, type, automatic status and responsible employees can be changed later.
