An equipment transfer records physical movement from one employee to another. It answers: who has the equipment now? A transfer does not change the responsibility assignment.
For managers: if your intention is to decide who should now be accountable for the equipment, change its responsibility assignment instead of creating an ordinary transfer.

Who normally creates a transfer

Transfers are primarily employee-to-employee operational actions. The employee who currently has the equipment can transfer it to the next employee without requiring an administrator for every movement. An administrator can also initiate a transfer, but it still represents physical movement, not a change of permanent responsibility.

How a transfer works

1

Open the equipment

In My Equipment, open the item you want to transfer.
2

Select Transfer

Choose the action for transferring it to another employee.
3

Select the employee

Choose the employee who will actually receive the equipment.
4

Confirm the operation

After confirmation, Inventory+ records the new current holder.

Other pending transfers

Before confirmation, the same equipment may appear in more than one pending transfer. Once one transfer is confirmed, the actual location has changed. Therefore, a confirmed transfer automatically removes the equipment from other pending transfers that no longer match its current state.

Equipment can continue moving

A temporary holder can transfer the equipment onward. Inventory+ records the sequence of holders while the permanent responsibility assignment remains unchanged. An employee can also take available equipment for themselves through My Equipment, for example after scanning its code.

Responsibility vs current holder

Responsibility answers who is accountable to the company. Current holder answers who physically has the equipment now. They may be the same person, but they do not have to be.
