A variant is a specific combination of parameter values within an inventory type. For example, a work-boot type can use Shoe size and Toe cap. Each permitted combination becomes a distinct variant whose quantity is tracked separately. Inventory+ uses the type’s configured parameters and allowed values to keep nomenclature consistent and prevent arbitrary duplicate variants. Quantities, transfers and write-offs always refer to a specific variant.
